How TimeTails works #
Every lesson follows the same simple, predictable rhythm: learn it, practice it, then prove it in a quiz.
- Theory – a short, friendly explanation of a new clock concept, shown on screen and read aloud.
- Practice – kids move the hour and minute hands themselves and get immediate visual and audio feedback.
- Quiz – a quick check that locks in what they’ve learned before moving on to the next step.
The course builds gradually, the way time-telling is taught in school: Hour Hand → O’Clock → Minute Hand → Half Past → Quarter Past → Quarter To → Mixed Quarter Hours → Five-Minute Intervals. By the end, kids can confidently read an analog clock at any hour of the day.
Made for every learner #
TimeTails never assumes a child can read. Every instruction, explanation, and quiz question is spoken aloud as well as shown on screen, so even pre-readers can learn independently at their own pace — no timers, no pressure, no penalty for going slow or repeating a step.
Why families choose TimeTails #
- Learn to tell time the way it’s taught in school — hour hand first, minute hand second
- A real clock game, not flashcards — kids move the hands themselves and see how they move clockwise
- Full audio narration for pre-readers and early readers
- A structured curriculum that grows step by step, from a child’s very first clock lesson to five-minute intervals
- Built-in quizzes after every lesson, so you always know what they’ve learned
- A calm, predictable design without distractions
Whether your child is just learning to find the hour hand or ready to tackle quarter past, quarter to, and five-minute intervals, TimeTails makes learning to tell time feel like a game.

TimeTails V1.0 Released
Today, TimeTails was released on the Apple App Store. TimeTails is an app for your kids to learn to tell time. It’s a hands-on way of learning; kids can move the hands of the clock. The app is structured in the same way the clock is learned at school. It begins by learning the hour hand, then moves on to the minute hand and the different time intervals (30, 15, and 5 minutes). In addition to being hands-on, the theory and questions are also spoken out loud so that kids only need to know how to read the numbers. The Free Play mode also gives kids the opportunity to learn by experimenting. For more information see TimeTails. I plan to keep releasing updates to TimeTails in the coming weeks. Your feedback is therefore invaluable. Let me know what you think. You can download TimeTails here.
